Print August 30, 2010; Conshohocken, PA, USA: The Champion System MAC Cyclocross Series has announced a radical increase of the Women’s prizes at every event of this year’s 11-race series. Effective immediately and starting with the UCI Nittany Lion Cross in Trexlertown Pennsylvania on September 11, every race in the Champion System MAC Series will pay equal prize money to the top three Elite Women as to the top three Elite Men. Series Director Mike Hebe also announced cash incentives for amateur women racing in the Category 3/4 division. "As a series, I feel that we definitely respect the effort that the Elite Women put forth," said Hebe. “Any way that we can help to offset a disparity in prize money is a good thing. We're thrilled to be able to make this work not just for one or two days at any given venue, but throughout the season for all 11 races of our series," he added. "This is an experiment for 2010 that we hope can springboard equal pay and bigger women's fields into the future."

photo414 Your local Red Cross sincerely needs your help.  Community-level disaster response services (such as food, clothing and shelter for families who lose their homes to fire) and emergency services for our military families are delivered by your local Red Cross chapter via charitable contributions from our community.  Large national and international disasters inspire the compassion and generosity of the American public.  But donations for large disasters (Haiti Earthquake, Asian Tsunami, Hurricane Katrina, etc.) are restricted to those direct relief efforts.  In their aftermath, donations to local chapters typically decline.  Your local Red Cross always depends upon charitable donations to serve our residents, but we need help now more than ever.

Rock n Roll Part 1 by Ian Alexander April 26, 2010; Conshohocken, PA, USA:  Gravity East embarks on the fourth season of its rock ‘n roll downhill race series at Virginia’s Massanutten Resort during this weekend, April 30-May 1.  For Gravity East, “rock ‘n roll” isn’t just a metaphor or a shameless marketing ploy to attract aging (or aged) masters riders.  Racers in the eight-race series must roll everything from monstrous rock and boulder gardens to speed sections that have riders topping out at nearly 50 mph on some of the fastest downhill schusses anywhere in the world.

It’s a combination that requires excellent equipment, so it’s no surprise that manufacturers have lined-up to be a part of the series.  Nearly every major manufacturer sponsors a team or rider that competes in Gravity East races, and some see so much value in the series that they support it directly, sometimes in addition to their sponsored riders.  Gravity East’s sponsors include, Kenda Tires, e-thirteen Components, Hayes Bicycle Group, Sun Ringle and FTW Industries, which have donated one FB10 DH frame and one S-10 Slalom Frame which will be raffled off at the Gravity East Finals in October. Mad March Racing is again sponsoring 4th place for Category 1/2/3 racers (and running its well-respected clinics at selected Gravity East events)  In addition NEMA clothing not only continuing its big dollar contingency plan, it’s also providing Championship Jersey’s and other clothing for class winners.
Neko Mulally, who won last year’s Gravity East Championship on his way to a full-time spot on this year’s World Cup, said, “No other race series would prepare me better for 2010 in the World Cup.”  Mulally recently confirmed that he will compete at this weekend’s Gravity East Season Opener at on the former World Cup course at Massanutten, Virginia.

090815_OVCX_Poster_r4 April 26, 2010; Conshohocken, PA, USA: The Zipp OVCX Cyclocross Tour has released a 2010 race schedule that is long on tradition, but with a heightened sense of significance. “I think this schedule will establish the Ohio Valley as a bonafide, red-hotbed of ‘cross,” said Zipp OVCX Director Mitch Graham. “There are only eight UCI C1 races in the U.S. this year, and the Zipp OVCX has 25% of them. We also have three races at the 2013 World Championship (and 2012-2013 Master’s World Championship) venue at Louisville’s Eva Bandman Park and the big three-day Cincinnati UCI3 Festival in October. And it’s looking increasingly likely that another of the municipal parks that we use as one of our venues may also be constructing a permanent cyclocross facility.”

It’s been over a year in the making but the launch of the new, updated, cooler, shinier BikeClicks.com is only days away.  The “new” BikeClicks.com builds on what we started, but finally begins to become the site we envisioned all along.  We've been listening to you - our members and friends, trying to take the best ideas, suggestions, even complaints and combined them with a few of our own inventions to incorporate everything into a site that is less about us and all about you. From the way you connect with other cyclists, your clubs, groups, teams and events to how you plan rides is all new and hopefully easier, on the “new” BikeClicks.com

Rather than become another big cycling forum we believe our true mission is simply to be the website that makes it easy for our members to organize around their existing, real world groups. More Blogger than Facebook (but with some FB style features); we want it to be about your cycling interests and groups, not ours.

So with our new BikeClique features everything for your group will be in one place. Forums, wall, photo gallery, ride calendar, member directory, links, documents & videos (phase II) all in one easy to find place.
